Meet the woman who takes care of 30 senior dogs

There is nothing sadder than seeing sick senior dogs left to their fate. But stories like the one we are going to share today make the heart take a shot. This is the story of the woman who takes care of 30 abandoned senior dogs.

30 dogs may not seem like much, but can you imagine having so many in your home? Hardly, too few of us could make it work in terms of time and place. But Sher Polvinale succeeded in this great deed. Want to read about her story?

This woman, like many others, felt bad when she saw abandoned animals, especially if they were older.

Older dog gets help

It broke her heart to think of the thousands of old animals who had to live their last days in solitude. She believes that  we all deserve special care to have a dignified life in the autumn of age, whether we are humans or animals.

Sher Polvinale therefore decided to found the “House with a Heart” shelter for older animals. The purpose is to change the lives of older dogs or give them a nice place to rest when they reach old age.

The majority of these animals are dogs and cats that have been abandoned or treated badly,  while others were left alone when their owners passed away. The house also accepts animals from people who can not take care of their older animals because they require special care.

It is very unusual to find people who want to adopt senior dogs. But Sher does not care – she is content that these animals have everything they need thanks to her and the volunteers who help.

Some dogs are in better shape than others. Some can still run while others can barely walk or eat. To keep track of so many animals, it is necessary to be well organized, especially since each animal has its own specific needs.

To make it  for the shelter register of each animal and use a calendar to remind workers which animals need medication, special food and necessary veterinary visits.

All the animals feel at home. They love Sher, just like the volunteers. The animals feel that they have a family that they can be with at the end of the road.

It is obviously quite expensive to take care of so many animals. Sher’s organization is not profit-driven. Sometimes, however, dogs need surgeries and medical treatments that can cost up to SEK 70,000. This money comes from Shers ‘or volunteers’ wallets.

For this reason  , the shelter’s neighbors began to help with voluntary donations. These donations go in full to continue to provide these animals with veterinary care. The hostel saves all the extra money after the month’s budget is covered for future surgeries and treatments.

If you want, you can also give a helping hand via the hostel’s website, which Sher created. Donating is undoubtedly a generous act that improves the lives of many animals.

It would be great if these shelters did not have to exist; if all older animals got some dignity, rest and security in the fall of age. What would we do  without kind and generous souls like these? Bravo Sher!
