Dog Misses Its Owner And Does This To Get Him Back

Dog lacks its owner and does this to get him back

If you have a dog, you have probably experienced the unique happiness when you come home after being away all day – or you may have been away for 10 minutes to buy something – and your dog greets you as if it has not seen you in several months. This puppy misses its owner so much that it decided to show it in a strange way…

A dog howling

When you shop at the mall, you do not expect to see a situation like the one we will tell you. People in a parking lot at a market in the Russian city of Bryansk were shocked to hear honking coming from one of the parked cars.

They did not understand what was happening, so they went closer to the car. And what they saw really caught their attention. It was a dog honking!

Not only that, it also howled and moaned inconsolably. It did not know what else to do to get its owner back and go home. This puppy missed him so much that he thought the best way to show it was to make a lot of noise.

The puppy missed its owner so much that it was filmed. Check out this video on Youtube that went viral and see how the dog calls for its owner with pure desperation in its howling.

Our pets’ behaviors teach us things about their feelings and thoughts. Several studies have shown that dogs lack their owners when they walk, even if it is a daily habit (such as going to work).

When we are not with them, they feel abandoned, even when we have not left them!  They do not know that you will return in a few hours until you open the door and walk through it.

Dogs feel abandoned by their owners and they show it. While their owner is away, the dog may be depressed, anxious and stressed. This is why it is common for them to bark, howl, rub or invent rag cloth.

It does not matter if we tell them to behave when we are away, or if we say that we will return (or that we will go to work, shop or that we will bring sweets when we return)… they do not understand . They just feel like we’ve abandoned them and we’ll never come back.

Dogs are very social animals and like to live in groups (and we are part of that group, as leaders). This is one of the reasons why they have a hard time when we go. If it were up to the dogs… they would never leave our side!

Some dog breeds lack their owner more than others. Some even suffer from what is known as “separation anxiety”.  It makes them feel overwhelmed when their human being is not around.

Breeds that are genetically more likely to have separation anxiety are:

  1. Mixed breeds
  2. Schäfer
  3. Labrador retriever
  4. Cocker Spaniel
  5. Beagle
  6. Basset hound
  7. Maltese
  8. Bichon frieze
  9. Lhasa apso
  10. Weimaraner
  11. Papillon
  12. Bernese Mountain Dog
  13. Alaskan malamute
  14. Bichon havanais
  15. King charles spaniel
  16. Japanese chin
  17. Australian shepherd
  18. Border collie
  19. Cavalier king charles spaniel
  20. Hungarian vizsla
Border collie

This list includes herding, hunting, snow dogs and smaller dogs… But why are these dogs who miss their owner more than others? Due to their nature – they prefer to live in herds, not alone.

In the case of mixed breeds (first item on the list), their dependence may be due to their past on the street or in an animal shelter. When they form a bond with a human family, they become so attached that they cannot handle separation or being abandoned .  The feeling of loneliness is worse in these dogs because of their past and they may never get used to you walking completely.

A tip before we go: vets say that a good way to reduce a dog’s stress levels when we leave home is to take them for a walk before you go.
